Right. Remember the friend I sent some fanfiction to? Well I've just bitten the bullet and sent him a link to aleathiels_fics. And a long explaination (which really made me think! Good for me!).

So, if you are here and reading this: welcome. Leave me a comment to say whether you are completely horrified with me! (You can leave comments without an account because I allow anonymous comments. But let me know it's you!).

However he is showing his friends the Very Secret Diaries (which he had read long before I sent him anything from the fandom). So the dear boy is introducing other people to slash already. Fairly long post. Sorry. But figure it's necessary.

aleathiel has given me permission to post here. Normally I wouldn't post this sort of thing without checking with her first, but she clearly shares everything with you, and my reaction has become the basis of so much comment and interest that I guess it would be unfair not to.

I'm not a minor, although that wasn't all that long ago. And my mind has been down in the gutter for years, so none of that is aleathiel's fault.

I'm not convinced that I've read enough to make a properly informed post. I did stay up till 4am - I will confirm that. But that was because it was the first long piece aleathiel showed me. I knew she would be incredibly nervous about my reaction, and anyway, I was gripped. Your reaction, aleathiel, is also why I'm posting so early. I haven't read much - in fact I've only read the banabloom piece in addition to what you sent me before. But I figure the past 12 hours since the email has been hell for you.

I'm sorry I haven't been able to read more since then. But I wasn't prepared to stay up all night, as that would have sacrificed work, which has already come second to the trip to Boston and LA next week.

Ok. For the rest of you, aleathiel let me in fairly gently. It was always her choice what to send me, but from her comments I knew that some of the pieces were going to be fairly graphic. I think the only thing that has even slightly shocked me is how much she has written.

I'm going to stick my neck out (I don't like doing this generally - it's an ugly neck) and make a comment about the whole genre, having only read some of aleathiel's stuff. I have no problem with it. And aleathiel: do not fret.

As mithlondewen said, it's only a part of any of you. There must be something else in your lives - this can't earn a living for you. But even if you lived to write slash, I have no problem with that either. You all have impressive imaginations. At risk of repeating what I have in the past told aleathiel, you just push your imagination further than most of us, and then have the ability to write it down.

aleathiel: As for my opinion of you, it hasn't changed. You are still the same girl I knew before. I have now just seen a different side to you.

It's not what I'd naturally read, but I'm not going to stop there. I will read on...

Please, to everyone holding aleathiel's hand, just step back a sec. I think she desires a hug for her bravery. She took a huge gamble, and this time it paid off, just like it did for nitw1t. (Aside for azriona and nitw1t: get your hubs to start writing, I reckon they have it in them - they are male, after all.) But there are people who I suggest you don't let know about all of this.

PS the two guys I showed the Very Secret Diaries to both were in hysterics. We only read a few, but they seemed to love it. And to confirm aleathiel again, I came across those long before she gave me any of her stuff to read.
