I have spent the whole day reading crap about Henry VI's deposition. Or actually, looking for info on Henry VI's deposition and completely failing to find it. Gonna be a great essay this week! The only thing that made me smile today was finding this in a textbook:
Abbot Wheathampstead's verdict on the victory of the northerners at St Albans in 1455 was that 'their opponents were effeminate, more like Paris than Hector in their bearing'
At least the thought of Orlando and Eric brightened a dull moment.
In fact, I'm going to go write Edward IV/Richard III slash, because that will at least put some of this knowledge to good use. Don't mind me!
And finally: if you could fuck someone from history who would it be? (Mine would either be Ed IV or Ed III, both in the last days before or the first days after seizing power. Sexy teenage kings with enough guts to beat off their opponents.)

Re:

His poor wife. What a mess. Thanks to his "station in life" the fact that he once "dated" this girl convinced him he had an obligation to marry her seven years later...she was not very smart. It was a mess. I hope he fooled around a lot.

Date: 2004-02-16 01:50 pm (UTC)It reminded me I used to have a thing for Tutankhamun, but only after I discovered he was lame and his wife had two miscarriages before his death. Maybe it was a sympathy thing.

Date: 2004-02-16 01:45 pm (UTC)I'd do Alexander the Great, except he was notoriously gay.
Henry V, maybe, or at least Shakespeare's version.
Does the Silmarillion count as history? ;)
Re:
Date: 2004-02-16 01:50 pm (UTC)LMFAO
yea, it SO does. so who would u do from Silmarillion? there are so many to pick from, but i'd be all over any Numenorean king. they were just so goddamn sexy. for me they combine the coolness of Elves with the filthy hotness of Men. *mind wanders*

Re:

Then I realized I liked it. ;D
Re:
Date: 2004-02-16 01:53 pm (UTC)Uh, I wouldn't worry about that too much considering he's also extremely dead.
Henry V is good. But he wasn't as pretty as Edward III. Both have kick-ass reputations at war and intelligent internal policies. OMG, it dawns on me: I like Aragorn *grin*
No the Silmarillion doesn't count as history, but hey, don't let me stop you!

Date: 2004-02-18 12:18 pm (UTC)I also would be interested in Abraham Lincoln and general Nathan Bedford Forrest, whose reputation for fearceness exceeded even general Stonewall Jackson.
