Partly because
nitw1t made a list and I thought it was a great idea, partly because it'll be convenient for me to have all the links in one place and partly because I love encouraging people to read things I love, I've compiled a list of my top ten favourite fics (at the moment!).
EDIT: I'm updating the links as the fics are updated.
Three things strike me looking at the list. Firstly the lack of Harry Potter fic (which makes me feel very out of touch), secondly the fact that even though I consider myself a Viggorli girl at heart only 1/2 the list is Viggorli, and thirdly (decidedly related to point two) is
stewardess_lotr's comprehensive takeover of the list, especially considering she doesn't even write RPS. I think that speaks for itself.
So, details, pairings and links under the cut:
1. Perchance (the whole series) by
chaosmanor.
2. The Shining One Arc by
stewardess_lotr.
3. Cold Antiquity by

Oh... and finally, because it's my list and I can sneak in an eleventh if I want:

Here, in reverse order, are the top ten:
10. Fraternity by
stewardess_lotr. Links to all three parts here. Multiple pairings from Boromir, Faramir, Hector, Paris, Aragorn, Eomer, Legolas.
The only humourous entry in my top ten. Perhaps you need the relief before diving into all that angst ahead. Not that this is totally angst-free, but I defy you to read about the brothers of Gondor and Troy meeting at the annual 'Men of Myth' convention in Orlando, Florida without having a huge grin on your face.
Oh, and to settle us in nicely for the ride, there's plenty of hot sex.

Viggo/Orlando.
Wave goodbye to your ovaries. Orlando with a little daughter is possibly the most adorable thing on the planet. Children are usually badly written, but this one is spot on - totally believeable and very cute. It's worth the few chapters wait for Viggo's entrance and although there's still a long way for the relationship to develop, I'm certainly hanging around to watch! Features Eric Bana in a straight role as Orlando's best friend.

Viggo/Orlando.
Another one which hasn't reached the sex yet, but I'm still hooked. Viggo is a police detective in search of a serial killer. Orlando is the next target. Features chilling sections from the perspective of the killer his/herself.

7. Black Hawk Down slash by
stewardess_lotr. Links to the various stories in the series can be found here (oh, and Stewardess, can I just tell you now how helpful your contents pages are?)
Hoot Gibson/Todd Blackburn (Eric Bana/Orlando Bloom for the uninitiated).
It's testimony to Stewardess's skill that I wait hungrily for this and devour each update even though I've never seen the film. In her second appearance on my top ten list, Stewardess takes us into the world of Hoot and Blackburn, with all their colourful swearing and manly swagger, and yet reveals a surprisingly tender story of love.
EDIT: That summary doesn't begin to do this justice. It might cover the first three or four parts. Then it gets intense.
6. See Under: Clue, Getting A. Links to all ten chapters plus the prequel and sequel are here.
Orlando/Elijah.
Set in NZ, this is a clever and detailed chronicling of the progression of the relationship between the two young men. There are moments which are perfect in the way they seem so awkwardly realistic and the characterisation is fantastic. Very hot, too!
5. Troyslash by
stewardess_lotr and
perseph2hades. Links here.
Hector/Paris (Bana/Bloom again).
Another appearance by Stewardess (basically just go read everything she's every written), this time in conjunction with Persephone, her illustrious partner in crime. Stewardess's prequels are a prefect way into Persephone's series about Hector's inability to resist his youngest brother. Deeper and, I suspect, more intense than anything we can expect from the film, this pair have drawn me into the fledgeling Troy fandom: a select group of Illiad-reading, Bana-ogling writers with fetishes for armour and fur.

Viggo/Orlando.
I was originally attracted to this fic because of its premise - Orlando as the pharoah of an Ancient-Egyption-esque kindom seemed like a perfect idea, and by its author (just because they haven't made the top ten doesn't mean I don't adore her earlier stuff). I stayed because I was hooked by the complications! I've been honoured to beta this since chapter seven and can't wait to see where it's going.
2. The Shining One Arc by
stewardess_lotr. Links to the multiple stories here.
Multiple LOTR FPS pairings. Men with a side helping of elves.
I think 'Shining One' itself was one of the first fanfictions to actually make me cry. The characters are so believable and the OCs so convincing that I feel like they really were in the book and I just somehow missed them (and there is lots of hot sex). Intelligent character development continues in detail in the later parts as Boromir and Faramir each get their own story. The longest fic on my list, but worth every minute it takes to read!
1. The Perchance series by
chaosmanor.
(prequels Hotbed and To Every Thing should, in my opinion, be read later in order to get their full effect).

Viggo/Orlando. Sean Bean/OFC. Don't run away! I promise she's a brilliant character!
My hands down favourite fic. It's beautifully written and intense. Deals realistically and spectacularly with serious issues of paraplegia, deafness, abuse and pregnancy (so yeah, het content). The OFC is one of the best things - you really don't need to be afraid of her! Beautifully written and intergrated into the story.
I have trouble dealing with RL after reading this because it tears me apart emotionally, both with sorrow and with complete delight. Gorgeously poignant. Oh, and did I mention beautifully written?
Whew. That completes the list. It's taken almost an hour! So I'm too lazy to check all the links. Let me know if there's a problem anywhere.
