To the first five people who comment to this post, I will gift you with something of my own crafting. ;) It may be an icon, a manip, a drawing, a ficlet, or something completely random. You may love it or you may think it sucks, but regardless, it will be made with love for you from me. ;) Feel free to give me a hint of what you might like (ship, character, actor/actress, fandom, colour, etc.)

The catch? You must pay it forward and post this in your journal so you can gift 5 of your friends with special gifts made by you.

Folks, let's be honest and admit that I'm not going to be able to do manip/drawing (unless you want a comedy drawing in paint) so you'll be getting something in words... other than that I'm good.

EDIT: why do I do this? I just said in the post below that I must not get sidetracked onto shiny things. *shrugs* I have no willpower.

That sounds...interesting. Were you drinking at the time? :D Hey, there is something to be said for AUs. SGA has some fantastic ones. How about something with just Merlin, and no Arthur to play off of? Or Merlin and Gaius?

No, actually, it was Legend of the Seeker fic. I hate myself already. ::looks ashamed:: Also, I missed my chance for being the first at Eleven. Someone(s) got there on the day. Buggers.

I was not! *outrage* I was on the train back from Cam in the middle of the afternoon. I just have a weird brain?

I can do Merlin-centric with no Arthur. Something about how he grew up without a father? Gaius fic? Merlin and Gaius gathering herbs in the wood? Something along those lines?

it was Legend of the Seeker fic
I am very amused. Specifically that, rather than Sword of Truth fic? How far did you get?

The first day? That's impressive.

1) I have seen plenty of people drinking on afternoon trains. And yes, you do.

2) Oh, Merlin and Gaius gathering herbs, I like that!

3) It was Legend of the Seeker more then canon-Sword of Truth. I am leary of writing book canon while the show is on. Also, I would so have to reread WFR first. I have a vague memory of the Mud People and the ending, and that's pretty much it. Right now I am on to Soul of the Fire, because it was all I could find in Waterstones (that I hadn't already read). You know, I have a knack for reading series out of order. Possible G.R.R. Martin's are the only ones I have. And I still don't know what's going on half the time!

I am sure there will be more to come. Although I managed to not write shippy Richard/Kahlan fic. The show does quite fine on its own. Give me time though.

4)Some people are far too eager for their own good. I have promised myself I will have the first fic come the actual introduction of Eleven. Because I suspect no matter how much they try to keep it a secret, us die-hards will have figured it out.

1) not me however. Although I may write the fic anyway. Except for the part where it might require historical research. What do you know about highwaymen?

2) *notes*

3) I have Soul of the Fire with me in L, randomly, if you want it ever. Amazon just informed me GRR Martin's book has been pushed back AGAIN from April to November. Not impressed.

Haven't seen the show, but I didn't really ship Richard/Kahlan in the books. They sort of annoyed me with their perfectness. I had no ships, really (except maybe Verna and Warren, because aww).

4) You have time.

1) um, nothing, but that could change.

3) bugger, again? I'll just have to start at the beginning then because by the time November roles around I will have no idea what the characters are called, much less the plot.

The problem is, that R/K is book canon, and I tend to automatically ship canon relationships. I should be different and go for the odd ones, but it never happens. I have no imagination, apparently, or I'm just boring.

4) time enough

3) sucks doesn't it. I'm not going to remember anything either.

R/K is book canon. Whether I ship canon pairings or not really depends on how the are presented and how interesting they are. R/K just aren't interesting once they get past the he-doesn't-know-she-can-wipe-his-mind thing. In BSG, in contrast, I ship Cara/Lee all the way (which is sometimes canon...) because the relationship between them is complicated and interesting.

One of the things I love about Merlin is that there are so many ways it works because everyone has some kind of interesting relationship with everyone else.

4) I look forward to it.

So I'm taking your Merlin and Gaius go herb-gathering fic and making it a scene in the longer fic in which they have a Deep and Meaningful conversation while collecting random ingredients. Is that ok?
