What I want for Christmas

I don't normally do memes, but since it was Angie who asked...


Ok, this is how it works: The player (me) must list 3 things that I would love to get for Christmas. Then I must list 3 things that I definitely do not want to get for Christmas. Then I tag 5 friends and list their names. The people I tag need to write on their LJ about their Christmas wishes then tag 5 more people.

What I want for Christmas:
1. Inspiration for the module 2 assessment. Or just motivation to get it done.
2. Someone to write a fic exploring Merlin's magic, and why sometimes he needs to use words, but sometimes he doesn't.
3. Someone to volunteer to make pretty banners/cover art for my fics/fics yet to come

What I don't want for Christmas:
1. Merlin to be cancelled
2. To spend the entire two weeks at home worrying about point 1 above.
3. To put on weight.

I would be totally thrilled! I think you are getting really good at photoshop! I don't have a new fic (that's a lie, I just posted one, but I mean I don't have one in progress except the EPIC one) so you can either wait and do that one, or choose your favourite of my current ones. I've just been chatting with ineptshieldmaid about the languages of magic in this fandom, and this occurred to me. Certainly at the beginning, when he moves things he does it without saying anything. It made me wonder.

No, I don't think they will either, but at least then we'd have a "complete" list of clues, which is a beginning. I mean, then we'd at least be able to say "every time that Merlin does x, it's in connection to y" and right now, we can't say that yet.

And the EPIC TRAILER OF EPICNESS is gonna make me fail at everything else this week. I know it.

That is true. I'm almost looking forward there being no new canon for a while, so we can consolidate the info we've got and explore it without the threat of contradiction in days.

You know, rewatching this, I finally understand why Merlin's always wearing that neckerchief. Obviously, his collarbones are too distracting for Arthur (also possibly explains some of Arthur's actions). Also possibly need to not type when it is this late. Also wondering whether it's actually Colin's collarbones that are too distracting for Bradley, the Arm Petter.

I actually have a comparatively clean slate for fic at the moment. I am struggling with a Gaius/Gwen for miniminkie (and PLEASE if you can help with ideas for that that don't scare the hell out of me then you can ask for any damn fic you like!) and the Taming prompt for this week is Chiwara (so I'm going to have to write some kind of fertility ritual fic, I think).

Other than that the only thing I have in progress is the giant epic fic of doom.

So ask away! I might even be nice and say yes, on the condition that you write about that red shirt.

Gaius/Gwen? *covers eyes* Is it like one of those fics where they're both jealous because neither is going to get Merlin so they finally have drunk, possibly angry sex with each other to compensate? Because that would at least be interesting, if still a turn off for me... (Gaius/Uther forever, yo!)

In all honesty, I've had SO MANY ideas for fics, I'll just wait for you to finish one of those fics before I decide which I want to burden you with. Because I feel bad enough asking for any, so it should at least be really, really good, the one I ask for, yes?

And course I'll write the red shirt one. It's too late now as the bunny has started running around my brain, looking for carrots...

Heh, it's going to happen eventually. It's inevitable. Although I love the mythology of the FPS, so won't go over to the dark side completely!

I don't know what kind of fic it is *wails* Although I sort of like your idea. I was thinking of opening with Gwen walking in on Merlin and Arthur having sex and being traumatised and going to talk to Gaius. It doens't have to be a high rating fic, just needs to have that pairing.

And yes, waiting for a REALLY good fic idea is fine with me. This is a great fandom for producing bunnies :D

Same here. :) I haven't read anything RPS yet, but I know sooner or later I will. And who knows? Maybe something can be written to combine the RPS with the FPS in some weird, bizarre way?

Like possibly her witnessing Merlin being rimmed by Arthur? And then she runs to Gaius, he's trying to talk to her but the idea is too much for him, he brings over some alcohol and when they're drunk enough, wrongness ensues... with as low a rating as possible, please. :">

It's almost like the writers are sitting around, asking themselves what would get to the bunnies. And when they have no idea, they consult the slash dragon. XD

*chuckles* I'll try to do it as soon as I can. Need to go see the doctor tomorrow and then finish editing the next clip for my translation project and then... (although I possibly already have the first line of the fic stuck in my head)

I'm a member of the Merlin RPS comm, but there isn't really much on it.

And yes, combining might be a genius plan. I've actually done that before (it was Troy, back before that was a disaster and the film actually came out) and it was fun. I don't know anything much about Bradley and Colin though.

There's one already? :D Yay. And I'm sure there will be... My first foray into RPS in the LotR fandom was caused by a drought in FPS fic, so I'm sure the same will happen here.

I don't either, but I'm sure that once the complete series is out on DVD, we'll have plenty of material to feed the RPS slash muse with. And you did? I'd love to read that! I'm sure your fic is ten times better than the movie. At least.

And yes, that's true. YAY for extras. And yes, the entire Troy fandom was made up of fic that was vastly superior to the film. In fact, ironically, the film actually coming out pretty much killed the fandom.

Damn. :| Now there's a literary crime if I ever came across one. I actually went to see the movie with my (gay and fabulous) Ancient Greek Literature professor. It was so amusing to see him mock it. And then when we agreed, he said he doesn't know what we're complaining about because the movie obviously delivered - Brad Pitt was very pretty in it. The fact that he can't act was irrelevant. I miss the prof. so much!

No. The only original name I've seen is the Merlin/Morgana comm (infide_manentia). Well, and faces_of_bradley, which just amuses me.

And perhaps it does :P There isn't much Merlin/Morgana fic. Which is kind of a pity really, since that is pretty. I've written it a little, twice, and might do so again. If I write the fertility ritual fic, it really is going to need to have some het in it, or it won't make any sense at all.

And yes. What is most annoying is putting out the light and going to bed and then having my head go into overdrive and compose the most brilliant scene ever for the fic I'm working on. Most of which I can't then remember in the morning if I don't get up, put the light on, and write it.

I'd think there would be some, but the truth is Merlin/Arthur and Gwen/Morgana are so strong, I guess it gets in the way of seeing other possibilities, in a sense. I'd ship them (M/M) if only in honor of the actors' Irish accents! ;D And yeah, I guess unless Merlin grows a womb, it would need a bit of het.

*NODS* That is PRECISELY it! I've started keeping a notebook by my bed for just such occasions, but I can now say that I both think and type way faster than I write. Which is all sorts of annoying, because it means you have 3 options when that perfect scene starts writing itself in your head, and all of them bad in some way.
