oooh travel plans!
Feb. 21st, 2007 04:09 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Just to let you know, I'm about to go travelling for three months and while I will have access to the internet some of the time, I won't be reading my flist much.
I realise that I've hardly posted for months, but I have been commenting on other people's posts and that is not very likely to continue until I get back.
I'm going to Bolivia, travelling up through Peru to Ecuador, spending a few days at a jungle lodge, taking a cruise around the Galapagos islands, then flying up to Mexico, exploring there for a while before headed up to California. At the end of May I'm flying out of San Francisco to Singapore for a week before heading back to London.
EDIT: I'm flying out on Weds the 28th of Feb and landing back at Heathrow on 7th June.

Date: 2007-02-21 05:32 pm (UTC)Are you going to stop at Machu Pichu and lake Titicaca? Highly recomended (although I must protest that my own little Chile has been ignored - if nothing else our buses are much better than Peru's as I painfully discoved;p).
Have a wonderful time and I demand to see pics when you finaly get back :)

Date: 2007-02-21 08:06 pm (UTC)And Macchu Piccu is incredible too. You will want to take the bus up the mountain from Aquas Calientes, but you can walk down the steps back into town and explore the flowers and birds. Cusco was the Inca capital, so it has some fabulous architecture - much better construction than Macchu Piccu which has been largely reconstructed.
Have a great trip and I am in the SF area as well, if you want to email me...

Date: 2007-02-21 10:21 pm (UTC)I'm looking forward to Macchu Piccu, and to Cuzco, since I did a paper on Andean history in my degree last year.
You may well get an email as I approach San Fran. It would be great to meet up with people. I was going to say my poor dear friend will be totally overwhelmed, but actually I think she'll probably cope just fine!

Date: 2007-02-21 11:27 pm (UTC)And if you wrote a paper on Andean history, then your experience will be so much richer than ours was. One thing I just loved was the train ride between Cusco and Macchu Piccu. I loved seeing the farmers in their fields and the houses and then the towering mountains and Inca ruins.
I imagine your friend will be fine and it's actually nice to see something other than the tourist destinations... You can email me at andolinn at gmail dot com when you know your schedule. Have a great trip!

Date: 2007-02-22 12:53 am (UTC)South America is awesome, I want to go there one day.
Also, why did I not know you were from the UK?
ALSO why is it that everyone is leaving the UK right before I get there? Coincidence? I think not. O.o
Have fun on your trip!!
