Prison Break query. Slightly spoilery for up to about epi 14ish



What was the point of taking down the wall they projected the Devil face onto? When did Michael or anyone else ever use that pipe system? It wasn't part of the actual 'escape route' from the PI hole-in-the-floor to the medical place. And I can't think of any time he used it in order to set anything else up either.

I will check for you. I remember an exposition moment when Michael explains to Sucre why it's important.

That would be great. I'm sure there must have been a reason, but reviewing Michael's plans afterwards I can't work out what it would have been.

That's right. And Sucre and Abruzzi knocked the wall down successfully while Michael was off gallivanting to rescue the pretty doctor.

The passage through that cement hole you mention had nothing to do with the actual escape plan. The reason they had to take the wall down was so Michael could sneak through the passages and obtain his personal belongings I believe.

Ah yes, it could well be that. because he has to get through to use the 'credit card' doesn't he?

Yeppers, he needed his personal items to check the guards walking time and figure out how many men they could take. I asked this exact same question a while back and got this as the answer. It's a bit unclear because Michael kinda lies to Sucre and makes it seem as if they need to drill this hole so they can get to the infirmary and then out of the prison. Instead he really wanted to get “Receiving and Discharge.” Also in his personal items is the rope they use to climb up from the pipe system into the infirmary. In around about way he was telling the truth but it was really round about.

The line from the script is:

"Somewhere behind this wall is the drainage pipe to the old sewer system. We get through this wall, we can get to the pipe. We get into the pipe, we can get into the infirmary. If we can get to the infirmary, then we can get out of here."

But later I guess they changed their plan to get into the infirmary through the guards' break room, where they dug the hole in the floor.

Oops. I should have added that Michael says this to Sucre shortly after projecting the devil image on the wall.

MWAH. Maybe that was when it was just going to be the three of them. And he had a different way to get Lincoln there.

Someone else suggested that it was how Michael got to his possessions - the watch and suit-with-rope and stuff.

It makes sense that he would lie to Sucre about it. He wouldn't tell Sucre that he needed to get to personal possessions storage.
