Can anyone help me out with a detail for something I'm writing? I want a historical figure who died rather than give up information when they were tortured.

What era you looking at? Any country?

There were a lot of men and women here in the USA that were tortured because they wouldn't admit to being witches. Horrible tortures. But if you can let me know more of what you're looking for I have a handy dandy book with gross info AND a Dad who is a retired Professor who LOVES history even more than his daughter does :)

Yeah, pretty much any era or country. I know about witches, that happened over here too, but that's not quite the same. What I'm looking for is that a character in my story is afraid he's going to be tortured and he says to another character "I'm not like X". X being a historical character they have discussed in an earlier scene. My character specifically has knowledge, in terms of scientific fact, that his torturers want to get. So he isn't being tortured for a confession, or to repent and convert to another religion, it is that they want him to tell them what it is he knows.

Any suggestions would be great so that I could go look them up.

I think you could go for Peter the Great's son Alexei, although I am not too sure if he didn't blab in the end.
