As a follow-up to the previous post, does anyone have any suggestion as to where I could find a copy of "The Lides Go South... and West: the records of a planter migration in 1835" ed. Fletcher M Green (Columbia: University of South Carolina Press, 1952)

Yes, I've tried Amazon and the Uni of S.Caro Press. Neither have it.

Alibris is a good place to look for old, out of print books. They didn't have the one you are looking for, but it might come in handy for something else you need. They also have a feature that will watch for the title you want and notify you if it comes in to stock. http://www.alibris.com/

Also, when I Googled the title I came upon World Cat, a search engine for library holdings worldwide. Lides is available in 104 libraries in the US. Maybe you can get it loaned or someone can check it out and scan pages for you or something. http://www.worldcatlibraries.org/wcpa/ow/ca2e7c572a9a5dcd.html

Good luck.

Thank you. I chased it up on there. And now I don't need the book anyway... :(

Thanks so much for your help despite that.

Kind of pricey, but Booksonbeaufort.com (http://www.booksonbeaufort.com/?page=shop/flypage&product_id=15115&CLSN_436=1129891992436dae2a2a81f8eab67f89) has it for US$48

My Uni (the University of Michigan'Ann Arbor) has the book in our Buhr facility. Its where they keep old books no one's checked out for ages. I could order it and for you and xerox what you need.

Here's a link to the search page for our libraries. Its called MIRLYN: http://mirlyn.lib.umich.edu/F/?func=file&file_name=find-b

Also, the UM Library homepage. The librarians are really accomidating as we have one of the best libraries in the country so they are used to requests such as yours. You may want to email someone about the book: http://www.lib.umich.edu/

Good luck!
