I have to draw this to your attention. Did you know everything we post on LJ can be passed without our permission? And that we do not own our own words?

EDIT: Just to draw further attention to it - one of my fics has been picked up on there already. And so have several written by people on my friendslist. It looks like some of your have a right to be very pissed off.

EDIT 2: [livejournal.com profile] atrustheotaku is tracking this.

EDIT 3: I looks as though we might be getting and RSS feed opt-out.

Saw it in stewardess_lotr's post and looked at Bloglines website. What is scary with the content issue is that they don't allow sign-up by anyone under 13.

Fine. But what about adult content? Who ends up responsible if little Johnny gets a feed of something he shouldn't be searching for? Bloglines 'claim ownership' of everything that comes in the feed, so you'd imagine irate parents going after them. But their disclaimer says otherwise.

In other words, they only 'own' the content when it suits them to own it.

Buck-passing, much.

F-lock for me and my personal LJ, definitely. But my community is another problem.

Well indeed, I can f-lock this journal, but I don't want to lock my fic journal because I constantly have new people finding their way there - which is great. But, of course, it's my fic journal that needs locking the most, both because it's my hard work and because of the rating issue.

I didn't find my user name there, thank god, but this is just disturbing. I'd already pretty much decided to friendslock the new story I'm working on, but this... yeah, I think new fics are going to be friendslocked, which makes me sad.

It makes me sad too. I don't want to lock my fics, but one of them is on there already.

*scared* What does it mean, that someone picked up your fic? How can we know if this has happened to us and how can we protect our words? *is totally shocked*

Honey, don't panic, I checked, you're not there, neither am I but it is worrying.

*loves on you for checking up on me* I know I said it before, but it's worth saying again. You're too lovely! *hugs and kisses*

I still don't know what to do about my fic journal though. *angsts*

I'm afraid one of my fics is there - it was taken from a community so my LJ itself isn't there, but some of my words are.

This Bloglines thing is just so unpleasant. I don't want to lock my journal but I don't want to see someone steal my fics either. Thanks very much for pointing this out. I guess I might only post to locked communities with a link from my journal from now on. I wonder if that protects us? The age issue worries me a lot too, my son is 13 in a few weeks and I certainly wouldn't want him or any other child reading slash.
*hugs*

You might also want to check Feedster, which LJ endorses via search.bml (click on the magnifying glass button in your userinfo).

I'm tracking this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/atrustheotaku/245442.html). Came across you because of your support request.

*sigh* It's just the tip of the iceberg then? Ugh, I'm glad you're tracking it. If there's anything I can do to help then let me know.

Demand is a big help. I've posted to [livejournal.com profile] lj_dev and might try [livejournal.com profile] lj_biz if this gets big enough. It's good to have support requests to point to and say "yes, this is wanted."

sorry to be intruding ...

Demand is a big help: the story is spreading like wildfire, especially because the people who have publicised it ([livejournal.com profile] stewardess_lotr, [livejournal.com profile] perseph2hades and [livejournal.com profile] cruisedirector have huge Friends lists. i think the issue is definitly going to be big in the fanfiction/fanart corners and communities, because these are the people who are now worrying about their productions being archived - especially when it is adult content. give it ... a few days!
