This post is just a burst of love for this man:

His name is David Tennant. He's one of those people who lurks around in the back of my head because he's always been the person I thought ought to play Mat Cauthon if they ever made a film of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time.

I was standing in the supermarket this morning and I saw that David was on the cover of this week's Radio Times because he's making some BBC drama of Casanova. I almost squeed out loud just to see him.

I saw David as Antipholus of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet in Stratford a few years ago

and have basically loved him since (although he actually wasn't a very good Romeo, but I liked him all the same).

So I come back and look him up on IMDB and what do I find? He's Barty Crouch Jr. in The Goblet of Fire.

So that concludes my love of David Tennant post. (sorry if it kills flists, just yell at me and I'll cut it. None of the pics are very big, at least)

Can't wait for tomorrow!

I have such respect for Peter O'Toole and I love the style of costumes they have.

Plus, David Tennant looks to be a bit of a fitty. Which is terribly shallow. I'll just go now.

*slinks off, ashamed that she's so shallow*

I won't be able to watch Casanova. And to be honest I haven't actually had a chance to read about it anywhere or anything. I don't have a TV here, and even if I were at home we don't have BBC3.

David is completely gorgeous. You will be smitten tomorrow and I will gloat because I have loved him for years and will be able to say "I told you so!" to everyone.

Right it is UNFAIR that I can't see this programme. Dammit, I'm a loyal David fan. Hell, had anyone else heard of him?
Although now he'll get more exposure, especially with doing the Harry Potter film as well. And that's got to be good.

Well, this is a good case to present in order to get Sky. It worked with my Dad.

"But they'll be showing LOTR!"

"So?"

"Pretty elf!"

"No."

"They have about eight sports channels."

"I'll call them tomorrow."

*giggles*

Well the things is I'm home so infrequently it hardly seems worth it. That said, I'm going home next weekend. So maybe.

Yes - you're right, he is Mat Cauthon! But who is going to play Rand then? Any suggestions? ;)

I'm so glad you agree! When I read the books it's David I picture now as Mat. I've never been satisfied with any other 'castings' for the boys although I've tried. For a while I thought Anthony Howell as Perrin, but I don't think he's big enough. And Rand is just difficult.

Egwene, however, was as easy as Mat. She's Amelia Warner (Colin Farrell's ex-wife) and has been ever since I saw her in Lorna Doone when she was eighteen. Pics of her because IMDB's one is rubbish.

If I remember any others I'll let you know.

Yes, I'd agree with both of those. Anthony Howell looks just like Perrin ought to look! How about Brendan Fraser for Rand? That kind of how I see him, I did consider Brad Pitt but he doesn't quite have the "blacksmith's shoulders" I think it would need. Although not a favourite of mine, I think Brendan might fit the bill.
As for Faile, I can picture the person I'm thinking of... but the name escapes me, damn!

I have issues with Rand. I went through a brief period in which I could almost see Heath Ledger in the role. With redder hair and bulked up a bit for the later novels.

I think Brendan Fraser is closer than Brad Pitt, but he's not quite right either. We have to keep thinking.

I'd be interested to see your Faile. I had an Aviendha for a while, but her name also escapes me.

Yay - I saw two trailers for Casanova this evening - now I understand even better!!
Still struggling to find an alternative Rand though.

Hehe, he's a perfect Mat, isn't he? I don't have a TV here so I haven't seen the Casanova trailers. Won't probably see Casanova either.

I know. Rand is difficult.

Ok - how about Ewan McGregor as seen in this photo?

Yeah, that's not too far off, is it? Slightly too much Ewan McGregor, but I guess that's going to be the problem with anyone too well known. Pretty close though.

And I'm not posting random replied when I'm supposed to be writing and essay on antebellum slavery. We're both working really hard, see?

I am rather miffed because I have seen loads of ads for Casanova and I want to see it, but alas, no BBC3 for The Netherlands. David Tennant so cute. He'll make a lovely Crouch jr, I think.

Yeah, I won't be able to see Casanova either. I have no TV here and even when I do go home we don't have BBC3. I spose it will eventually be on one or two.

David Tennant is brilliant. I just find it amusing that he's suddenly emerged into public light because I've been a fan for a while. And yes, I can see him as Crouch Jr. - he's good looking but sort of odd looking too, and he has a wonderfully mobile face.

Olivia mentioned it. YAY David. I don't really care what parts he choses to play - it's just great to be able to see him on TV.
