Orlando's engagement.
Oct. 4th, 2004 08:53 amIf it's true then I genuinely do wish them all the best. Hollywood marriages end so often and it would be nice to see them happy. I'm not wearing a tinhat, especially not to the wedding.
On the other hand, if it's just News of the World being News of the World then I hope Orlando isn't too furious. Given that the "related articles" are Orlando Bloom linked to Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom made to wear chest wig, both of which are utter bollocks, and that the report mentions that the couple met filming a Gap ad, it's clearly not the most accurate report.

Date: 2004-10-04 01:17 am (UTC)The story I saw said Orlando bought an engagement ring worth 175,000 pounds, which I think works out to half a million dollars. That is beyond absurd. He would never do something that idiotically Hollywood. I hope. ;)

Date: 2004-10-04 01:25 am (UTC)I agree that I'd like it to be true because it would mean that he was enough in love and comfortable enough with both himself and his relationship to do something that was sure to become public. And he's been so careful about his private life.
And yes, that's absurd. Completely ridiculous in fact. However he has spent huge amounts of money on flying her places so maybe he is, sadly, being tempted into a lifestyle of shallow glitz. I seriously hope not.

Date: 2004-10-04 01:38 am (UTC)But having said that, I think half a million is obscene. I don't like very expensive jewellery because I'd be afraid to wear it. Rings especially. Can you imagine wearing that on your hand? And if it's an engagement ring then she would wear it. So, in conclusion, I hope the "all you can see is diamonds" is a rumour.

Date: 2004-10-04 02:12 pm (UTC)I don't see the point in people getting so wound up about it either way though... Seems strange to be that concerned over people you don't know, no matter if they are happy for them or not.

Date: 2004-10-04 05:02 pm (UTC)As for marrying Kate Bosworth, 'course I wish them all the best if they actually do tie the knot. I'm not too fond of Ms. Bosworth, though this isn't really related to her being with Orlando. I disliked her before they were ever linked because I thought she was a shoddy actress and found her annoying. She may be a perfectly nice person in real life, I have no idea. Whatever she and Orlando do or don't do isn't really my concern. I would hope they're happy just because they're fellow human beings and probably don't deserve a bad marriage.
