I wouldn't know. Maybe he was just being silly, maybe it was a bet. I can't think of any professional reason why he'd wanna do that when that credit is linked back to him anyway.
I agree. It just sounds like he thought it would be funny. I can't see any reason for it either and the choice of name suggests it was just for amusement.
Maybe it has something to do with the Screen Actor's guild? If he didn't "work for scale" or even worked for free, he might use another name to avoid trouble with the union. Because those guys have some pretty crazy rules.
All I know is that he has said that he used it as pseudonym at hotels. I guess it stuck and he decided using it for cameos would be fun... who knows. Sorry to butt in.
