I just had a horrific shock.

I frequently leave my computer as it is for a few minutes if running to go get something from another room. The computer is in my room and so the only person even likely to see the screen is my sister, who is not only a slasher but pretty unshockable.

So I just left my screen open on the NC17 fic I was reading while I went to collect my sister's sandals to put in our suitcase. My screensaver kicks in after a minute anyway.

Imagine my horror to return to find my father sitting at the computer.

He's typing away happily at his email and on hearing me enter says "Oh, sorry. My server's down. Hope this is okay."

I'm just having a heart attack on the other side of the room.

Then he sends the email, gets up and leaves. Doesn't say a word.

The page I had open is minimised in the bar. I'm hoping I had minimised it before leaving and that was that. But I'm pretty sure I left it open.

*blink*

And yeah, he just left without a word.

It's possible that he didn't even take a look at it. I can tell when my father's actually reading my screen (and off his head) and most times he isn't. Because letters aren't fun. If you'd have left a pic...

How old's your sister?

I guess the only conclusion I can come to is that he didn't read it.

My sister's fifteen. She'll be sixteen next week.

The easy way to find out is to ask him. I wouldn't though, being too afraid of the answer. 'Course, I did ask my father once if he's gay, so my sanity's doubtful.

That's a perfect age to start corrupting her mind. ;D I started at about the same. Just you two girls?

dear GOD, my greatest fear realized

you know, the worst thing is when they *did* see something and you know it, and they *don't* say anything to you about it. aaaahhhh

Well, that's exactly it. Did he not notice because it was just a page of text and he's used to seeing stories on my screen and not bothering to read them until I hand them to him? Or did he see and not say anything? And if so, why not? And am I going to have to keep my head down to avoid an explosion?

*eeep*
I'm a beetle, when something like that happens to me, I usually somehow bring it up and when it turns out that my parents have no idea what I'm talking about, I end up digging my own grave
and you can't really play the "but you shouldn't have been reading my private stuff" card because, yeah, lol

*giggles* I'm sure he would have said something if he had read something...*thinks* wait didn't something like this happen to me? and you laughed? Hmmmmmmmm.

But really I doubt he read it. Probably thought it was studies or a letter.

*hugs*

I remember what happened with your parents!

Yeah, he knows I write so he probably didn't read it - he assumed that when it was finished I'd print it for him.

Dude, I printed out political statement and just left it on the printer tray. It was there for two days, in the living room, just sitting there.

I have no idea if anyone saw it, but nobody has ever mentioned it.

I'm just glad it wasn't a vigorli.
hat would have been even harder to explain.

ROFL that was quite a risk. In my family I would never have seen it again because my sister would have run off with it!

And yeah, at least Political Statement is practically orig fic.

Bet he didn't see it. Porny m/m tales draw our eyes like a shot, but that is not true of everyone. And usually not true of dads. What am I saying? It's true of my dad. *g*

:) To be fair, my father does have a shelf full of books on sexuality in literature and homoeroticism and he's read Footprints with the names of the characters changed. So I don't know if he would have been that bothered. But I expect he would have mentioned it, so he must not have seen it.
