Y'know we need an archive site for the Troy fandom. One with a section for RPS and a section for FPS. I'd do it if I had the faintest idea how, but as I don't I'll have to beg someone else to.

It's just there's a lot of great stuff out there already, and I know it'll be a hassle to get it all gathered up and to get permission to archive from the authors (maybe we could just have links?) but I keep finding people looking for things, and I rec, and in the comments to the fic I rec I find someone else looking. And I don't mind leaving the links at all. But surely it would be easier if there were somewhere specific to go, to look under author or pairing or whatever?

Also, with all the new people joining the fandom I feel we should show them what we've got already. So that they can get the feel of the fandom. And its quality.

I've only posted this here because it's more a thought than a request for someone to take it on. But I'd like to know what you think. And then maybe I'll post elsewhere and look for a volunteer.

ETA: sorry. That's a pretty inarticulate post. I hope it made sense.

I can't comment, given the lack of time I have at the moment. But it's nice to know there's a possibility of a site. :)

I know! I"m overwhelmed! [livejournal.com profile] deepbluesea_ has been sending design suggestions to me, and I'm slow in getting back to her. I really need help with the site. If you want to handle anything about it, let me know. I'll pay for everything, I just want it up and running.

Don't know if it helps, but my online boss, Rebecca Smallwood, wrote a few fanfiction module scripts which are used on slash sites like Mirrormere, Peredhil.com, Galadhrim, etc. The script I think can be found at her script site, Orodruin. It seems to be a pretty popular and easy script to use, and I'm sure there are a lot of knowledgeable people who could install it. It's a script just for the fiction, so it's not like it would be the entire site. Just a thought =)

Welcome! I can't believe I didn't think of it before. I was on Peredhil.com and saw the little notice saying where the script had come from, and I was like, "ooooooooooooooooooooh....yeah." And as always, if you need any help with things, I can, uh, find people to help you. I mean, Paris!Kelly doesn't actually *work*! Are you kidding?

*lounges on recliner and watches hot men work*

j/k - whatever you need, I can try to help. =)

The thing is, since I've never done a site, I don't know what needs doing. Everything, I guess? *grins* (See my response to [livejournal.com profile] eomers_elf. Any idea you have would be helpful. I guess I should pick a design theme and at least have that up.

In response to your comments to the others, I'm also happy to do anything I can to help. I'm not exactly going to be any help with the actual site but (surprise surprise) I can give opinions. And I'm happy to do the locating of fics and contacting authors for permission side of things.

Oh my goodness, that would be fantastic. Yes, now I've been shamed by everyone, I'm going to get the site up and running ASAP.

I always forget to tell you, I freaking love that icon of yours. When I first saw it, I read the words and thought, that sounds vaguely familiar... *grin* It's from my first fic, isn't it? LOL *makes cuckoo sounds*

Hehe, glad to hear that! No problem then, I'll start compiling lists etc.

And yes, the words are from your fic. [livejournal.com profile] eomers_elf made it. And another: I could control you with a kiss. Except I'm on a free account and can only have three, so that one isn't uploaded.

Right. Obviously I'm assuming I can put your fics on the list. I've started compiling it (with links, for now, so that we can find the text or whatever later when you're ready to upload) in a fwd dated private post on here. Do you want to be included in the filter so you can see what I've got. So far not much obviously. I've divided it into RPS and FPS by pairing. I'm not sure what to do with some stuff - call it 'both' and make it a third category I suppose.
Again with your 69 Event: since it's your site you should be the one making the exective decision as to whether they should be divided by pairing - ie one as Eric/Sean and then after as a threesome - or put them all as a threesome as a series. Depends what you do with the site really, I guess. If you link at the end of the first to the second, then it doesn't matter if they're categorised under different headings as you'd still be able to get from one to the next. But then you'd also need a link or something at the top of the sequel to say it's a sequel.
Do you want the veto on what goes in or are you willing to trust my judgement? Or do you want everything I find because at this short precious moment I haven't seen much, ahem, 'trash'.

Sorry to hassle, but this way I can start the list now and add to it gradually as I have time and as I find things.

Add me to the filter, I'd like to see what you've got so far. I'm not going to censore anything though, I'll leave it to you to collect and decide what you want to put. Unless it's just utter nonesense, if it's Troy slash, it can go on the site.

As for the pairing/threesome issue, we can link at the bottom, and have a link to the sequel in brackets next to the title at the top, or just say it's a two part fic.

We can have categories for pairings and threesomes as well, but as long as the fics are properly linked from one to the other, it doesn't make that much of a difference. And of course we can alter as we go along.

I think that is a good idea. The Troy/Illiad fandom is growing fast so a central gathering place for fic would be a good thing. It'd be a shame if fics were lost because there was nowhere for them to be archived.

Exactly. And there's already some old stuff that people are unable to keep track of. There ought to be a central place: after all Harry Potter, LOTR and even POTC have many archive sites.
