Why is it that you can get Queer as Folk UK on both region 1 and 2 DVDs and yet it's next to impossible to get QAF USA on region 2 DVD? Everywhere I look only has it region 1.
I bought a region free player because this kind of thing happens all too often. They are really cheap now. Mine was about $65. I'm sure you could convince your dad to get it. *g*
Speaking of regions: It has never been clear to me whether I have a region free player, an all region player, or what. It does play just about anything. What's really handy is that it will play burned DVDs that may be a little too messed up for my regular DVD player to swallow.
The only cheap multi-region DVD players on amazon are ones they won't ship abroad. I just had a look, but ended disappointed. It's becoming a difficult quest.
UGH. Yeah, I wish. There is pretty much no way I'll convince him he needs to replace our home DVD player. And I just use my laptop at college - which is region specific. Yeah, maybe in ten years time my dad would buy a new one but a) I'll die waiting and b) I won't live at home then - I'm there rarely enough as it is.
:( Sorry. I'm just miserable about this. I had convinced myself that there must be a way around this and now I just can't find onw.
Ahh, but that does perhaps give me hope. You got them from a copy that was region 2? (i.e. it exists?) Or, in copying them did you make them a different region (I have no idea if that is even remotely possible)
Err.. Because I looked all over for Region2 QaF and didn't find any, I can only presume that the region block was erased in copying. I have copying software that will remove the region block, so I'm guessing that's the case. But then again, I'm a bit dense, so don't listen too carefully to me. ;)
An all region player doesn't replace the one you have already -- you use both. The all region players are usually pretty bare bones, but it seems they aren't as cheap yet where you are. They might be soon, I hope.
I'll keep an eye out. Well, actually, I will have a proper search, let's be honest. I'm getting slightly hung up on this now. GRR it seems the world is against me getting to see this program.
Yeah, that's one of the things I've been trying. I've been trying to find the code or hack or whatever it's called that would allow me to do that. However, I don't seem able to find one for my DVD player. I've found quite a few sites and have yet to find one that lists it. And when I look directly for it all I find are other people posting on messageboards looking for the same thing. It's a Hitachi DVP325E
