I'm happy today. I don't think there's much reason. Maybe because it's Friday. Not that that makes any difference to me because I haven't followed any kind of structured timetable for months (how will I ever survive at Cam?).
In fact, I should be in a bad mood because I've been trying to organise a meal out with my friends for my birthday next wednesday and I have completely failed to get hold of any of them on the phone. Which is just typical.
But there we go, I'm still in a good mood. Maybe I shall go do some writing.

A piece of quite interesting information. I was talking to our cleaning lady, who is deaf, about LotR. She says she normally just watches films with subtitles, but that she had taken her children to see these in the cinema. She said she had had no trouble at all lipreading in FotR, but got stuck in TTT because she couldn't understand Gollum.
I thought this was really interesting. I mean we all go on about how fabulous Gollum is, but I'd never thought about it in terms of lipreading.
(as an aside - this is the same woman who spoke to Christopher Lee twice in one day in London and even spoke to him and it wasn't until later that she realised who he was!)
