May. 12th, 2003 09:12 pmI had my French Oral A Level exam this morning.
I hate speaking French. It's a beautiful language and I'm happy to read and write it and I love listening to it, but being examined on my ability to speak it is dreadful. I do well in written exams = I can write and I can go back and change my mistakes. When it's spoken, once the words are uttered I can't call them back.
I knew that I would be asked questions on one of four topics. Two were fine and one was pretty much okay. The fourth I really knew very little about but it was the least likely to come up and I figured I could wing it.
Guess what came up? Oh the irony! I haven't got the faintest idea how I did, but hopefully I'm carrying enough marks from last year and from my written papers to compensate!
In other, happier, news: Chapter three of Doors of Perception is finished and submitted and should be up any day now. It was easily the hardest chapter to write, it still feels wrong, but I can't fiddle with it too much more or I will never finish this fic before my exams. Also, I have started writing out a summary of my original fiction to help me organise my plot threads and to spot the huge holes. I hadn't realised that it was quite this long and convoluted, it now seems that I'm basically writing a novel - which was never the intention.
Oh well, I might one day get it finished!!
