packing IS gross, I've done it about 5 times in the past two years and it gets really depressing as you become better and better at consolidating your life.

Exactly. I have three terms and I can't leave things behind during the holiday because we have the nicest rooms and they are used for conferences. So that means I have to pack everything six times a year - down and back three times. I'm at the end of my second term of my second year, so this is something like the tenth time I've done this.

Since I went to college in Boston and lived in Chicago, I had to fly home every break. I got very good at fitting my life into two suitcases and a carry-on hang luggage. :/

I drove down from DC after grad school with all my stuff managing to fit in a van. Three years later I moved into this place and we needed to make two trips with a 14' truck. Amazing what being in one place for more than a term will do. I kind of miss the freeness of not having stuff.
