EDIT: okay I'm all bouncy and excited and nail bitingly angsty over this. I need this film to be perfect. Humour me, okay? It has to be perfect for Orlando's sake, it has to be perfect because of the history (I know what they've changed, don't worry) and it has to be perfect because OMG THE SLASH

You make some interesting points. Also? I just finished teaching the Crusades to my World History class. I really feel as if I should have *some* intelligent comment to make.

Oh! I do want to say that I am right there with you with all of the nerves. I don't think I can handle it if it turns out that this is a bad film. Or that Orlando does a bad job in it. I'm so worried for my darling boy that it isn't even funny.

I've been reading up on this particular part of the crusades. Can I recommend Hamilton's "The Leper King and his heirs"? I studied medieval history, but didn't know much about this actual bit. Now I have lots and lots of notes for slash.
