Very very different to anything else I've read!

I've already fallen in love with her Palace, which is so very different to this. And yet equally original.

Summary: In the second century AD the Emperor Hadrian ordered the construction of a great wall across the north of England to mark the frontier of the Roman Empire. A string of forts were manned to separate the Romans and the barbarians, the protect the province from attack. It also served the purpose of frontier control, monitoring who entered and exited the empire.
The new commanding officer at Vercovicium is a young man from the south called Orlando.
